Nature Face 1

£195.00
sold out

I made these pieces to encapsulate the true spirit of spring. I didn’t want them to be green men as such but slightly more ambiguous than that. I left areas undecorated so that the viewer can fill in the gaps themselves if they so desire. I named them nature faces and wonder what they might be trying to tell us!

May is undoubtedly my favourite time of year when plants grow so quickly you can almost see it happening and I wanted to create some pieces that celebrated this magical time of the year.

Nature Face 1 features the ferns unfurling, one of my most favourite things. I used black slip and copper oxide to decorate this piece and scratched back into the slip with sgraffito tools. This piece can be hung inside or out, just bring it in during the cold winter months.

This piece measure 18.5 cm in diameter.
